4noggins Bulk: OWL'S HEAD

Having my early pipe smoking experience jeopardized by rare and/or expensive English blends, I was relieved to find this one at a great price and more importantly at a high quality on par with some of the big names. Owl’s Head is a comfortable and enjoyable replacement for the Penzance-sized hole in my life, making both my taste buds and wallet happy. I lack the knowledge and experience to accurately describe this tobacco but I hope
these meager comments will suffice. Highly recommend this blend!

flavor and taste and smoke great!!

Every tobacco in this blend will come to the front as you sip through the bowl. None are overpowering but definitely there. I truly enjoyed the just right amount of Latakia that is present. I really haven’t tried an English blend since the frog left the building and am very glad to have tried this 4 Noggins masterpiece.

A solid 4.5 stars at first I wasn’t sure about this one but the more I have worked through the 16 oz bag I like the difference it exudes. When you open the bag it has a frankincense / campfire smell to it that I wasn’t sure about. If I wrote this review when I first got it I probably would have given it a 2.5 stars. Mostly because I was surprised by the fragrance. But it grew on me the more I smoked it.

Many blends are characterized as "light English", but we know what that means: too little latakia, and an over-abundance of Virgina (which can be too bitey at the top end) so we wind up giving the thing a try or two and then resort to a "big blast" latakia bomb or some bland Virgina to clean the palatte. Well, here it is: a truly light, mellow English with just enough interest to keep you coming back for more and just enough smoothness to make it a favorite all-day companion. Exactly right. i think the cavendish may play a role in creating the mellowness, but it is also tasteless and, therefore, does not get in the way of the traditional English ingredients. This blend gets my highest rating. Rich must be a wise owl with a brillian blender's head. That's why 'Owl's Head" is perfection in a pipe.
