This brown Peterson is my second Peterson pipe lighter. I wanted the brown first, but settled for the black one because brown was out of stock at the time. I’ve had the black one for almost 2 years and it’s been dropped, frozen and just generally abused and it’s held up great. It’s never let me down so far and the flints are easy to change (no tools needed).
I bought the best gas I could, but it still turned sooty black in spots, so I cut a thin strip off a magic eraser pad and was able to make it look like new again with little effort (think shoe shine style buffing).
They have a good solid heavy feel to them, they don’t rattle at all, and the flame is easily adjustable. so far the paint has not chipped (I don’t carry it in my pants pockets ever, shirt pocket or jacket only).
I really didn’t need a second lighter, but I had some extra cash…. You know how that goes ;). I am very happy with both of lighters so far and for the same money I don’t think you will find better quality anywhere.
