I'm a fairly new pipe smoker, about six months into the hobby. I've learned I prefer stronger blends, full of flavor, medium strength or more. I very much like Burley and Pegasus ticks all of my boxes. The smell in the jar is like milled beer brewing grains, roasted and toasted barley. There is an oat-like toasty sweetness in the aroma, also a bit of baking cocoa and vanilla. These elements come through in the taste as well. I very much enjoyed Haunted Bookshop before this but over-indulging in a tin of OJK left my palate burnt out on Perique. This is somewhat like, not identical to, Haunted Bookshop without the Perique.
I saw a review somewhere that called Pegasus a sort of amped-up Carter Hall, and I agree with that entirely. It smokes cool, the flavor lasts longer into the bowl compared to Carter Hall and it has enough strength and nicotine to leave me satisfied at the end of the bowl. Smokes very nicely in a cob. Plus it comes in bulk to save some money!! 4Noggins service was impeccable.
