One of the first pipe tobacco blends I ever tried and still one of the best. The flavors of the rum and molasses are slightly present in the taste and primarily the flavor is rich, dark Burley, brightened by two Virginias, with an occasional wisp of smoky Dark Fired Kentucky. I get different flavor profiles depending on the pipe I use, so there's always something to explore. However, be forewarned, this is a MANLY smoke. If you're unprepared, you'll likely sprout chest hair and a full beard overnight after a bowl of this. (Or you may descend into girlish paroxysms, as another reviewer here apparently did upon lighting this up.) Named after one of Melville's books, this blend really does put you in mind of long voyages at sea, with vast emptiness and bowl of stout leaf as your only companions. Another winner from C&D.
