For beginners, I definitely recommend this kit.
Pricing each piece individually and comparing against this kit, the savings came out to roughly $10~ not to mention that (at least for the pipe that came in my kit) you'd have to go through some pretty sketchy sites while still paying more.
Only complaint I could realistically make is that the guide included with this kit only goes over packing and lighting technique and doesn't include instructions for breaking it in. Though, the pipe I received didn't have a bare wood bowl, meaning it would be more forgiving during the break in period.
The four tobaccos i received also served as a good spread from ranging from aromatic cavendish blends to more oriental latakian blends. A good sampler for the beginner to tastea decent variety.
Long story short- a great kit for beginners, but not enough information in the provided instructions for someone with absolutely no experience.
