Really like this tobacco
I first got my hands on a bag of 4noggins' Hobbit's Weed out of sheer curiosity. The name, of course, was the hook—a little wink to the old Professor. When I cracked open the pouch, a sweet, fruity scent, mostly cherry with a soft vanilla undertone, hit me right away. It's pleasant and not at all chemically or overpowering, like some aromatics can be. I've had others that smelled like a teenager's bad cologne, but this one is a bit more refined. The ribbon-cut tobacco feels moist to the touch, but not wet. A few minutes of drying time, and it was ready for packing.
The initial charring light brings a creamy cherry and vanilla flavor to the fore, but it's not a flavor bomb. It's more of a sweet, warm greeting. The Black Cavendish and Burley are noticeable enough to ground the experience, preventing it from tasting like an over-cased dessert.
As I settle into the bowl, the flavors harmonize nicely. The cherry leads the way, a consistent sweet note, while the vanilla acts as a pleasant sidekick, rounding out the profile. The smoke is cool and easy, and I've found it rarely bites, even when I'm a bit too eager with my puffing. It’s a dependable, relaxing smoke. It burns down to a fine, grayish-white ash, and it's nice to see it finish cleanly without leaving a goopy mess at the bottom of the bowl.
My wife is happy whenever I smoke this, calling it a "very pleasant" room note. So it's a good one to keep around for those indoor evenings. While it's not the most complex blend I've ever had, it’s a perfectly satisfying aromatic for when you want a simple, sweet, and comforting smoke. I wouldn't call it an adventure tobacco, but more of a relaxing, fireside companion for a quiet evening.
