I've fairly new to pipe smoking at this time. (August 2012) I've tried over a dozen tobaccos so far and while I can't distinguish tobacco types by taste yet, I can certainly tell that some I love and some I hate. I finding that fairly simple and I have a weak tongue when it comes to the spicier blends and that I'm better off using a Virginia base and mixing my own until I get used to the the characteristics of the other tobaccos. This is great on it's own, or as a base to mix in some of the other tobaccos I haven't liked so much. I can put a pinch of something I don't like in with this and it's good. This way I won't waste the stuff I don't like. One it's own it's great too. Easy on the tongue for me, satisfying and a nice aroma right out of the can. It only needs 10 - 15 minutes after rubbing for my packing style so it's good that way too. I'll keep trying many blends, but I'm thinking at this point I'm always going to have a couple of tins of this and when I travel this will be what comes with me.
