Flake has awoken! (An updated review)

Wow.

Talk about a depth charge! Ever since I learned about aerating these Peterson tins, I've seen an incredible change in these tobaccos in over a month's time. Peterson's Flake is a beautiful cut of Virginias with some lovely, light citrus flavour. Whereas Orlik's Golden Sliced can be a bit too forward in its taste for some days, Flake's lightness and subtlety gives the smoke a buoyancy that invites you to chase after it, like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet a lovely woman. (She's still kind of costly, though.) Anyway, don't miss it!

Looking back at my initial review, I blush for shame at my lack of knowledge on tobacco and oxygen. Forgive me my haste and disregard it.

Standard Flake

That's what they should've called this.

Yeah, this is the first middling tobacco of the resurrected Dunhill line that is slightly disappointing. Comes in a neat dual-stack of flakes that are ridiculously moist; I let these dry out overnight and they *still* rubbed out wet! Burned the same way, too, making the stem weep a bitter lemon flavour. Left it out overnight AGAIN and it finally rested to a proper dryness ready for smoking, and...

... well, at best, Flake is like Erinmore without the Juicy Fruit, or Orlik without the tea & high citrus notes. Not that it's a bad tobacco, by no means! But, c'mon, at a $13.99 price point, Flake feels like a ripoff compared to their more delicious offerings, like Nightcap. And that's why I've stuck it with a three-star rating. Trust me, you can do better.
