Rattray's: BLACK MALLORY 100g

This is a good blend of Virginias, Orientals, Latakia and black Cavendish, and they are all good quality tobaccos. However, for me. the proportions are somewhat off, leading to a blend that is a little too harsh and not quite sweet enough. I added a little G.L. Pease Union Square and an equal amount of Lane BCA to sweeten it up and mellow it out. My guess is that the Orientals were too prominent leading to a 'dry' and somewhat harsh taste.

Excellent English blend.
Cavendish and oriental tobaccos add a subtle sweetness.
But really just a subtle one.
It's a great classic English blend.

Very nice blend. I haven't leaned into the Rattray's blends much, but with recent cancelations of some of my favorite blends I am expanding my horizons. I prefer a full-bodied smoke, which this is. Not a lat bomb, but it is there at the forefront for sure. This is a nice, rich, pleasant smoke. Recommended for those who like blends with cavendish and Latakia.

Rattray's Tabaco are hard to find.
